Abstract :
This paper analyzes the functions of HVDC reactive power control (RPC) system in a practical engineering, builds a HVDC module including the converter firing control and the reactive power control in PSCAD/EMTDC, compare the dynamic characteristics of DC system before and after adding the reactive power control. Simulation results indicate that RPC model built in this paper realize basic functions of reactive power control system, reactive power control is a low speed control and it hardly impact on dynamic characteristics of HVDC system.
