Abstract :
The capability of multi-frequency microwave radiometers in retrieving soil moisture profiles was investigated by using both experimental data collected in a experiment with IROE microwave radiometers and an electromagnetic model (Integral Equation Model, IEM). The experimental data and the IEM results were used to train an artificial neural network in order to invert the soil moisture data and reproduce the soil moisture profiles.
