Abstract :
This paper presents a multivariable optimal output control of the fast turbine valves coupled with excitation of the generator. In this method, fast valving action can be used sufficiently and the transient stability of the generating units and the power system can be improved significantly. In order to solve the optimal feedback gain matrix of the nonlinear multi-machine power system, a new multidimensional interpolation global optimization technique is introduced. This technique has been used successfully to compute the optimal feedback gain matrix of the above power system. The digital simulation and the dynamic physical modeling experiment of the power system indicated that the transient stability of the generating units is improved significantly
