Abstract
Owing to the merits of low harmonic current component fed to the catenary, unity power factor, bi-directional flowing of energy, excellent dynamic performance, and so forth, four-quadrant converter (4QC) is applied to AC drive locomotive as line-side rectifier. The inductance value of 4QC is vital to the performance of the rectifier. To meet the performance of transient current tracing, the limit of the maximal modulation ratio and catenary voltage fluctuation, a scheme to design AC side inductance of 4QC is presented in the paper. The results of simulation verify the feasibility and correctness of the method.
