Abstract :
The paper aims at analyzing the necessity and legitimacy of Open Access. The history of this movement can be traced back to the early 2000 but its importance is growing nowadays due to the fact that certain regulatory bodies make this a target on the digital agenda of Europe. Nonetheless, the reluctance of scientific journals in embracing this model, along with the possibility of conflicting with copyright are making the transition to Open Access a lot more burdensome.
