Abstract :
Dual boost PFC converters have been popular in industries due to their high efficiency. With input voltage sensor circuits, the size and cost of the PFC converter increases. In order to reduce the cost of the products by making compact size and to increase reliability from the electrical noises, control scheme without input voltage sensor is highly recommendable. This paper presents a voltage sensorless feedforward controller, which relies on the input current and output current of the dual boost PFC converter in a battery charger application. Because this control scheme utilizes the measured current information, this approach is well suited for the battery charger applications. Three main benefits of the proposed control scheme are as follows: (1) operates without input voltage sensors, (2) makes digital implementation possible with the proposed feedforward controller, (3) and improves the response time with the current compensator. The proposed feedforward control without voltage sensor has been simulated by using PSIM software and implemented with a 1kW dual boost PFC prototype board controlled by a digital signal processor. The simulation results and experimental results are well matched.
