Abstract
This paper presents the modeling, simulation and hardware implementation of a Li-ion battery powered electric truck. Theoretical calculations and model based simulations were carried out for sizing the components and to develop a supervisory control algorithm. A circuit based model has been developed for the Li-ion batteries for its use with the simulation model. The paper presents Power Save feature to limit the vehicle power demand in response to a driver request to increase the Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) range of the electric vehicle (EV). The experimental results from the electric truck drivetrain are presented in this paper.
