Abstract
In view of shortage of hardware resources on embedded video-on-demand system, we propose a new strategy of ring buffer with trust-value to reduce the buffer time and save more system resources without reducing the quality of its service. Based on the analysis of general buffer strategy on client side, considering the size of buffer and the consumption of resources when system allocate buffer space or copy data, we propose the ring buffer structure, forecast of network condition, and dynamic adjustment method for the added buffer with trust-value to achieve our goal of a new buffer strategy. Test results show that, the application of the strategy in embedded video-on-demand system reduces the buffer time and save more system resources with ensuring its quality of service.
