Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to present a perspective on two-wheel vehicle electronics, highlighting the major design issues. We start by identifying six different application domains in which in-motorcycle electronic devices can be grouped. Then, within each of these domains, we analyze the State-Of-the-Art (SOA) systems and we give a perspective on future developments. We also present three application examples for innovative in-motorcycle electronic systems we have developed: a low-cost CAN-based network, a wireless audio network for in-vehicle access to infotainment sources and an electronic control system for self-levelling of a suspension. Guidelines for in-motorcycle electronics design are also discussed.
