Abstract
This paper presents an analytical study into the steady-state performance of a three-phase induction motor powered by unbalanced supply voltage. Positiveand negative-sequence equivalent circuits of the induction motor are used to ascertain phenomena caused by voltage unbalance such as line-current unbalance, derating, drop in machine efficiency, etc. This paper also proposes the ratio of motor positive- to negative-sequence impedance as an index that allows the sensitivity of line-current unbalance to voltage unbalance to be effectively evaluated. A numerical example is provided to show practical applications of the proposed analytical model
