Abstract :
Suspension insulator strings are used in high voltage transmission lines and substations widely and they are important for the power system on insulation. This paper introduces the principle of monitoring the insulation deficiency of composite insulators for transmission line using electric field processing method. The electric field method can be used to detect the faulty insulator of suspension insulator string in transmission lines. We adopt the method to detect the composite insulator, and the electric field processing method can be used to analyze the axial electric field distribution of composite insulators. For detecting the insulation deficiency of composite insulators, the monitoring system is also presented.
