Abstract
Point and track circuit failures are the two most common causes of train delays due to the rail infrastructure and condition monitoring systems designed to detect failures before they occur provide an immediate cost benefit. This talk covers recent progress in the design of such systems, in particular the non invasive monitoring of audio frequency track circuits. Level crossing monitoring provides crucial recorded evidence at this difficult interface between public highway and railway.
