Optical Interaction of Active Integrated Antennas

This paper describes research effort on optical control of active integrated antennas. First, the concept of active integrated antenna is described. Next, how optical techniques provide benefit to the implementation of the active integrated antennas and arrays. Several examples of optical control are presented. The first part is mainly for controlling the oscillation characteristics of the transmitting active integrated antennas. Some recent effort is included for an optical method useful for beam scanning type active integrated antenna arrays.
