Abstract :
A transmitted signal can arrive at a receiver via several refracted Fermat paths. If the paths are independent in the Fresnel sense, then the received signal can be modeled as the sum of amplitude scaled and time shifted copies of a predetermined replica plus white Gaussian noise. For this model, a joint improved algorithm of multipath parameter estimation based on matched filtering and least squares method is proposed in this paper. First, according to the principle of matched filtering and mode of operation of communication system, the number of paths and the time shifts of each path are estimated using the Linear Frequency Modulated (LMF) signal (Chirp) or m sequence; Second, the amplitudes of each path are estimated by the above estimates and least squares method. Besides, theoretical analysis about the resolution of multipath time shifts is done in this paper. Simulation results are shown in order to verify the validity of the proposed algorithm.
