  • Abstract
    With the rapid development of inland shipping, the key elements related to inland transportation, e.g., ships, cargoes, ports, ship companies, have strong demand on interconnection and information exchange. Thus, to some extent, interconnection and information exchange of relevant elements of the inland shipping have become a constraining bottleneck in the development of inland shipping informationization. Electronic Product Code (EPC) system is a promising solution to address above problems. In this paper, we propose an inland shipping EPC system based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Firstly, we introduce the conception of RFID technology and EPC system. Secondly, we exhibit the whole architecture of inland shipping EPC system. Lastly, we discuss the data model and implement details of EPC Information Service (EPCIS), which is a key component of inland shipping EPC system.
