Abstract :
The hydropower simulation in the Virtual Reality (VR) demonstration environment has not been available in applications. This paper applies OpenGL and VRML to establish virtual 3D digital basin of which the information, in different environments, can be displayed to visualizing spatial information of basins, hydropower station discharging and flood disaster effect. With the support of 3D digital basin, simulation teaching of the engineering hydrology courses have been carried out, the results of course evaluation indicate that simulation teaching mode has more advantages over traditional teaching mode in teaching effect, such as providing more practical simulation and developing learning ability improvement.
