Abstract
In order to expand the application of wireless sensor networks (WSN), ultra-wideband (UWB) technique is approved as one of the physical layer of IEEE 802.15.4a standard. Theoretical analysis shows that the performance of UWB system is affected by the transmitted pulse waveform, and pulses with high power efficiency can improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR) significantly. Hence, pulse with high power efficiency is desired in UWB systems, and the semi-definite programming (SDP) method can provide the pulse with highest power efficiency by far. However, most pulse shaping methods did not consider the antenna distortion which cannot be neglected in UWB communication systems compared with conventional systems. In this paper, a SDP based pulse shaping method to compensate for antenna distortion is proposed, and simulations show that the proposed method can be used to achieve compensation for antenna distortion, and higher power efficiency can be obtained for the pulse transmitted by the transmitting antenna.
