Financial performance, social responsibility and enterprise sustainable development

This essay presents a framework on the basis of the stakeholder theory for the analysis of financial performance, social responsibility and enterprise sustainable development, and applies this framework to examine the case of Mengniu Dairy. The analysis concludes that social responsibility and financial performance are not mutually exclusive, and that, in the long run, fulfillment of social responsibility will not affect a company´s financial performance or competitiveness, but enhance its value and sustainable development.
