Abstract :
Technical progress made in XLPE insulation and its manufacturing process have been made in recent years, and 500 kV XLPE cable and joints for long-distance power transmission line have been developed using new technologies to minimize the defects such as impurities and protrusions. The interconnect line of Kazunogawa hydro power station of Tokyo Electric Power Co., has been commissioned and is scheduled to go into service in Dec. 1999 as the world´s first 500 kV XLPE cable line with joints. Other Furukawa´s major experiences on 400-500 kV XLPE insulated cables and their accessories are also described
