Abstract :
The lightwave network is introduced to exploit the huge optical bandwidth with concurrency among multiple-user transmissions in the network architectures and protocols. Receiver collision is a common problem in a single-hop WDM network with random access control protocols. This paper proposes an RRC protocol (reduced receiver collision) with waiting-queue and channel-usage table. It has been shown from analysis and simulation that the RRC protocol has a much lower delay and a higher throughput than the ISA (improved slotted ALOHA) protocol. Therefore, it is a good medium access control protocol for use in LAN
