Abstract
A description is given of an optical subscriber network architecture and customer premises configuration suitable for broadband services and a method of evolution from narrowband to broadband ISDN. Typical applications and requisites for broadband services are outlined. Fiber network topology and add-drop multiplexing networks are discussed. Customer topology, channel structure, and the D-channel access method are examined.<>
