Abstract :
Innovations in the design of power circuit breakers are making rapid progress and state-of-the-art technology is now concentrated on SF 6 gas-insulated switchgear or vacuum-type circuit breakers, however, a large number of older type circuit breakers such as oil, air blast or magnetic type circuit breakers which are no longer manufactured, are still used in the field. Engineers proficient in handling those older type circuit breakers are now coming of age and retiring from the maintenance works. Under these circumstances, it is urgent to recruit young engineers to be able to handle those old type circuit breakers. A portable type interactive voice recognition system making data input direct has been proved to be also very useful for instruction and training. This paper introduces the outline of newly developed instruction and training of personnel to familiarize the use of the old type of circuit breakers
