Abstract
In this paper, we introduce a general framework for evaluating the transitions toward sustainable alternative fuel vehicles, which takes into account supply and demand of both vehicles and fuels in the market. The modeling approach and underlying mathematical formulations for different stakeholders are described and are then integrated in one model of the whole energy and transport system. The hybrid modeling framework integrates the top-down system-dynamics approach with the bottom-up agent-based modeling. We specify the integration process and the most important linking variables between various energy and transport components. Finally, the potential contribution of hybrid modeling approach to the models of transition to sustainable mobility will be concluded.
