Abstract :
We applied a third-order correlation technique for identification of wavelet coefficients uncorrupted by noise by considering triple correlation coefficients of wavelet-signal correlations for thresholding. Various important theoretical results are stated and discussed for the wavelet modulus maxima method, VisuShrink method and HOS-based thresholding method. Then key properties of each method are studied and compared through both real and synthetic data examples. Finally, the current work is applied in a real seismic section in China. By comparing several wavelet-based denoising techniques theoretically and numerically through synthetic and real seismic data, one can choose the appropriate techniques for different situations.
