Abstract :
This paper investigates transmitter optimization in a synchronous carrier interferometry/multicarrier code division multiple access (CI/MC-CDMA) uplink system under frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel. In MC-CDMA system, a trade off relation exists among peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR), multiple access interference (MAI) and bit error rate (BER) based on the number of subcarriers, number of users and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Wireless channel being highly nonlinear and random in nature, an optimal solution for the set of parameters become essential in order to achieve efficient utilization of the communication resources based on the status of the wireless channel. The genetic algorithm is used to reduce the searching time in order to achieve optimal parameter values in this multidimensional nonlinear problem. Simulation results show that optimizing the number of users and the number of subcarriers, better acceptable values of both BER and PAPR can be achieved.
