Abstract :
In this study we present a hybrid scheme aiming at tone mapping high dynamic range (HDR) videos into low dynamic range (LDR), to achieve the best possible way of showing HDR content on LDR displays. The proposed scheme selectively tone maps different regions of each frame such that the visually important information is preserved. Then, it applies an average-based technique to ensure there is no sudden change between the overall intensity of the successive frames, and thus avoid a flickering effect. Subjective test results confirm that the visual quality of the LDR videos produced by our proposed scheme is very promising.
