Abstract
The exploration of new power-save and efficient routing algorithms for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is an area of significant interest due to the limited energy and computational resources of sensor nodes. The proposed power aware routing approach uses a novel link metric which attains the best trade-off between power consumption within the node and its hop-distance to the sink. It is based on a modified Dijkstra´s algorithm which determines the topology of the network while performing the calculation of least path costs. Simulation results demonstrate that our algorithm enhances the energy conservation of the network while efficiently routing data traffic.
