Abstract :
To decrease non-availability of transmission circuits due to rain attenuation conspicuously in satellite communications at frequencies above 10 GHz, use of long-distance site, diversity is one of the most effective means. Using an empirical equation obtained from statisatical data of 1-min. rainfall rate simultaneouly obserbed at many plaices in Japan, this paper estimates the site diversity effect of rain attenuation vs. distances up to 1000 km and clarifies the improvement factor of non-availability for satellite communication circuits by site diversity configuration.
