Abstract :
A novel optically controlled multibeam forming and steering network (O-MBFN) is intrduced to realize large active phased array antennas for satellite communication systems. An optimum operating condition of an optical frequency shifter (OFS) that is a key component of the O-MBFN has clarified. Microwave control in optical region was experimentally confirmed by using the basic configuration composed of the OFS and an optical phase shifter (OPS).
