Abstract :
Modern medical scanners allow neurosurgeons to plan operations with millimetre precision. But this planning accuracy needs to be reproduced on the real patient. Image guided surgical robots achieve this by using the scan as a 3D map to locate targets precisely. Success depends on good registration between the patient, the image and the robot.
