Abstract :
The establishment background, global targets, design development and materialization process of the construction management model and information management system of large-scale engineering projects are analyzed and described. A versatile management system is established. With the proposed system structure and together with the use of the progressive BPR and relevant supporting techniques, this management system is established with the ability to materialize the project construction management integration, collaboration integration, technical platform integration and data integration. The technical tools used also include the project supply chain management, the collaboration working platform, the non-linear dynamic earned value (EV) method, the intelligent self-describing and self-checking unified coding structure and matrix type material/equipment coding methods based on project decomposition features. The application example of the Three Gorges project management system (TGPMS) is given to illustrate the unique features of the developed large-scale project construction management model and information system in respect of functional field coverage, flow process adaptability, collaboration work and strong support to continual improvement of project management level. This system can be recommended and extended to all kinds of large-scale engineering projects.
