Abstract :
Detection of toxic organophosphorus (OP) compounds using electrochemical and fluorescence spectroscopy is reported. A sensor device with gold (Au) interdigitated electrodes (IDT) on a glass substrate was used for the electrochemical detection of various OP compounds. Picomolar amounts of malathion, fenthion and ethion were detected by electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) using benzodipyrido[3,2-a:2´3´-c] phenazine (BDPPZ) as a sensor. Quantitative detection of malathion, fenthion and ethion, were also obtained via fluorescence spectroscopy for concentrations as low as 0.1 μM, 1 μM and 10 μM, respectively.
