Abstract
This paper is devoted to project oriented courses in university electrical engineering programs. The courses specifically discussed are those relying on an application of electromagnetic modelling techniques in solving specific real-world problems. What is presented here is the quintessence of experience associated with teaching such courses at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and Lublin University of Technology, Poland. The profile of these courses, as well as the students´ response to these, is presented. It is concluded that there is a global requirement to use such project-orientated courses as effective teaching tools in electrical engineering programmes.
