Abstract
This contribution gives an overview of the main results that were obtained in the European project SETamp (Application of single electron devices for the development of a current standard). Within this project substantial progress was made with respect to the theoretical understanding of the relevant single electron effects, the fabrication and characterisation of single electron transport (SET) devices and the development of high-precision measurement techniques. The so-called R-pump and the RF-SET electron counter have been proven to be very promising for the future realisation of a current standard.
