Abstract :
A 3D model, able to calculate the synchronous machine external magnetic field is proposed. It is based on the combination of an analytical approach representing the basic phenomena of energy conversion and a numerical simulation able to compute the external field considering also the influence of eddy currents in the housing. This hybrid model is based on a cylindrical geometry; it can provide helpful data for the interpretation of field measurements made outside the machine for predictive non-intrusive maintenance operations.
