Abstract :
Very simple estimates for average electric and magnetic field strengths over the interior of a passenger car due to an internal source are compared with detailed field distributions obtained from a 3D numerical model. The results suggest that simple calculations can provide good estimates for average field levels in cavities with dimensions of a few wavelengths and apertures with dimensions of the order of a half wavelength or more.
