Abstract :
The unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) generated in the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is of concern in many applications. The paper analyzes the UMP that is due to the electromagnetic (EM) structure of the motor. An analytical model is presented for analysis of the EM structure and how it can cause UMP. This model is then verified using finite element (FE) analysis.
