Abstract
The IRS (US Internal Revenue Service) entered the field of AI (artificial intelligence) by training 13 domain experts; on completion of their training, these employees returned to the IRS AI Lab, where they identified, developed, and managed AI projects. The history of the IRS AI program is reviewed. In addition to applications currently under development, potential future projects are also identified
