Abstract
The performance of traditional TCP is much discounted over hybrid network. As a result, TCP Westwood (TCPW) is an end-to-end solution based on bandwidth estimation. This paper firstly analyses its availability, as well as its flaws. Secondly proposed an optimized design method, which RTS of MAC layer is used as a congestion metric. In the end, we applied this optimized design method into TCP Reno and TCPW. Simulation results show that the throughput and fairness can be significantly improved by using this cross-layer design over hybrid network.
