Discusses the particular problem of allegiance assessment and the system attributes required to undertake it, summarises some of the limitations in this context of `traditional´ methods of handling uncertainty, describes the principles of explanation-based reasoning, and shows, with examples from an illustrative Ada implementation, how it can be used to carry out allegiance assessment
