Abstract :
This contribution deals with a simple hybrid control problem: a finite-dimensional linear time-invariant (FDLTI) plant is controlled via symbolic measurements and quantized control signals. Quantization levels may be arbitrarily coarse. Time is considered to be continuous. Discrete-valued measurement and control signals can then be interpreted as timed events, which are fed into, and generated by the controller. We address the case when specifications are formulated in terms of continuous plant variables and reducing the control problem to a pure discrete-event problem is not feasible. For this case, controllability, reachability and observability conditions are stated, and a heuristic control strategy is suggested.
