Abstract
ATM switched virtual circuits (SVC) introduces an important dimension to the broadband service offering by allowing users to set up connections without the manual interaction needed to set up PVCs. This paper presents a case study of the health care market performed to demonstrate the ability of SVCs to be deployed and priced to cost-effectively interconnect multiple tiers of a multi-hospital system (MHS). The applications running on the network varies from videoconferencing for education and consultation to the electronic exchange of health care imagery
