Abstract :
An optical frequency standard at 445 THz, based on a single trapped Sr/sup +/ ion, has been developed and applied to the measurement of the /sup 87/Rb 5S/sub 1/2/(F/sub g/=2)-5D/sub 5/2/(F/sub e/=4) two-photon transition frequency at 385 THz. In addition, a single ion based calibration system for the 474 THz I/sub 2//He-Ne standard is described.
