Abstract :
The Departments of Computer Science, Cybernetics and Engineering at the University of Reading have recently developed a system for teaching real-time control in which students can use software provided for them which demonstrates the appropriate principles, as well as developing their own software. The system is user friendly and modular, allowing for the development of a variety of algorithms for various applications, so that it has been possible for the system to be used in the teaching of many topics. This paper describes the philosophy behind the project, the components used in its implementation and some of the ways in which the system is used.
