Abstract :
A robust speed drive system for a switched reluctance motor (SRM) using a sliding mode control strategy (SLMC) is presented. After reviewing the operation of an SRM drive, a SLMC based scheme is formulated to control the drive speed. The scheme is implemented using a microcontroller and a high resolution position sensor. The parameter insensitive characteristics are demonstrated through computer simulations and experimental verification
