Abstract :
Selecting a CASE tool is a complicated process. Selection criteria must be determined, CASE tools must be evaluated against the criteria, and a decision must be made. Successful CASE selection, however, must go beyond technical factors and consider additional issues. The common critical failure points in these additional issues which must be addressed for the selection to be successful through the lifecycle of the tool are identified. These include getting the selection process correct, having the prerequisites in place prior to selecting tools, knowing and understanding the organization, evaluating the product under performance stress, and managing exceptions
