Abstract
This paper describes the evaluation of an electric field sensor based on a lithium niobate optical modulator, and also the modifications made to the field sensor system to improve its performance. The results of the calibration of the sensor against the NPL calculable standard dipole antenna, and also in three transverse electromagnetic (TEM) cells are presented. These indicate that the antenna factor of the modified field sensor system is stable to within /spl plusmn/0.3 dB. Further development of the system is outlined.
