Abstract :
A concept of open simulation systems is elaborated, based on importing computational ODE- or DAE-dynamics models via a non-proprietary, neutral, description format into re-usable simulation tools. Thereby domain-specific modelling is cleanly separated from universally applicable simulation, which allows one to save vested interests in modelling while migrating to more advanced simulation-based experimentation environments. The software-engineering paradigms underlying this concept are data abstraction and tool abstraction.
