Abstract :
This paper presents a numerical simulation to investigate the dynamic behaviour of cycloconverter-fed AC drives. Field oriented control is implemented in the outer control loop and interfaced with the inverse cosine control inner loop of the cycloconverter. Induction and synchronous motor drives are included in this study and a comparison is made between their steady state performance and dynamic response. Some real time control problems are investigated using the numerical simulation system.
