            Abstract :
This paper proposed a hierarchical cellular system based on the adaptive multi-beam antenna along with a channel assignment scheme. The hierarchical cellular system is formed from the mechanism that the beams of the adaptive multi-beam antenna radiate in the vertical plane, that is to say, the adaptive multi-beam antenna of the base station can generate a cluster of concentric circles. The channels assigned the vary layer of the hierarchical cellular system is varied according the traffic density in unit area. The simulation results show that the proposed channel assignment scheme be fit for hierarchical cellular system.
